Clean range hood filters. If you’ve never thought of doing this, you’re in for a real “treat” when you get that filter off the hood to clean it for the first time. The Family Handyman suggests simply using a degreaser from an auto parts store mixed with hot water. Let the filter sit for a few minutes, rinse it off, and you’re good to go. Some say a mixture of baking soda and boiling water is the key. Bring water to a boil add baking soda and when the fizzinggoes down then add the filters. Let set in hot mixture water for about 5 minutes. You may need to scrub just a little and then rinse with warm water. As always be careful when removing filters from water. Use tongs to remove so you will prevent from burning yourself.
